An earth shattering letter arrived in my mailbox a week ago today. Earth shattering might be an exaggeration, but when you've worked as long and hard as Elizabeth Adams-Marks and I have on organizing our international fibers show, you would understand. Over a year's worth of work was challenged by a few simple words…"due to reorganization efforts at Jacoby Arts Center, we will be unable to host your show. Sorry for the inconvenience."
We've had one hell of a roller coaster ride this week. As Rose says to Esther in "Meet Me in St. Louis": "The plans have changed".
So Jacoby is OUT and a new venue is IN. And what a venue! Unfortunately I don't have any decent pictures of the gallery. Will try to shoot some as soon as school resumes--SIUE is on spring break now. You can see a couple of pics at the From the Inside Out blog.
The faculty and exhibition committee at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville where both Elizabeth and I got our degrees has voted to forego their annual faculty exhibition and allow our show to be installed in the August/September slot. THANK YOU SIUE!
So we have almost the same dates we had originally, and thank goodness, Fabienne's workshop will go on as planned and all participants will get a chance to see the show and hear the artist talk on September 18.
We are still working out some of the details since this JUST happened yesterday. We're not sure when the opening reception will be, but will post just as soon as we have the news.
