Composite

You know the trouble with memory is that sometimes you misplace it. Forgive me if I've posted something similar before. I've been gathering some images tonight and thought I'd finish a composite of scarf details that I started some time ago and that shows the wide variety of marks that can be made with shibori rusting. You may recognize some of the designs or colors from past posts. The blues were created with elderberries. One blue piece in the center also has some yellow created by turmeric. The rest is just the the usual rust and tea with whatever tannin I had handy.

  1. What a lovely arrangement - add some stitching and it would be a complete piece :-). Ii know this is really just a composite of your photos but it could be printed out onto cotton and embroidered?

    1. I still have my eco print experiments/samples from India's workshop in 2011 that have gone no further than what I managed in class. I think about it a lot...that's as far as it goes. As for these, all are long gone. I got in the habit of scanning samples so I could keep track of what I make.

    1. Thank you very much India. One of these days, I'll have some eco prints to add to the collection. I swear this is the year of the fire pit near the studio so I can "cook" and rust at the same time.

    1. Thanks Penny. I didn't get to make any berry pieces last year because of the drought. Hoping I can add more blues in future.
